January 1st marked my 11th blogiversary.
Taking stock of where I am seems to be a well-traveled tradition. Although I refused to set goals last year, I did have one. My fiber stash was going to be either net even, or negative at the end of the year, not counting fleece.
I continue to purchase Zita's fleece each year from Dick and Gretchen. I also purchased a small BFL lamb fleece this past spring. Those do not count. Pre-processed, dyed, fiber-festival bumps were the focus. Without boring you by enumerating this bump, and that fluff, I ended the year 3.701 pounds negative.
This year, the only allowable fiber purchase will be Zita's fleece. I really don't anticipate much withdrawal pains on this one. I bought selectively, infrequently, in 2015, and cannot say that I have suffered.
Yarn and weaving will take a pass. I have goals, but they are guides more than mandates. Mr. Etherknitter's jibes about planning my fun apparently have had some effect.
This space will conspicuously lack New Year's resolutions or intentions. Most of what I look to change are all ongoing goals or projects: get organized, exercise more, clean up the diet, etc. Without ground-breaking newness, the topic is not particularly blogworthy.
Last year's focus word, however, was a blazing success. It was PRESENCE. Despite the hell of the winter, and the stuff that fell apart around here, the reminder of presence helped me get through the year. On New Year's Eve, the word for 2016 fell into my thoughts. I plucked it out, looked at it.
Initially, it took the form of "let go". But that is two words. So an idea of letting go morphed into my 2016 word: RELEASE. We will see how that unwinds.
