You could try blocking it but I have deep suspicions that will not get you far (please prove me wrong). You won't wear it or gift it as it stands will you? That means that all the effort in the rest of the mitten is wasted but if you reknit that tiny little thumb you'll get something that you are happy with.

I think you should fix it. Thumbs don't take that long and when they don't fit right they can be really annoying.
